How to use this section: On this page, you'll find Fun Stuff, monthly activities for your family, and Did You Know, an interesting story to tell your kids. On the pages that follow, you'll learn a new Bible verse a week. The verses are divided into three parts: Preschoolers memorize the words in bold. Elementary kids memorize the words in bold and italics. Teens and parents learn the complete verse.

Fun Stuff

Sweet Oranges: You need: 4 oranges, 3/4 cup sugar, 1/2 cup orange juice, 1/4 cup lemon juice, 1 1/4 cup water, Whipped cream, Cherries.Peel the oranges. Break into segments and put into a bowl. Cut the orange rind (peel) from one-half of an orange into thin strips. Boil the sugar, orange juice, lemon juice, water, and the rind peels until the rind becomes almost clear. Pour the syrup mixture over the oranges. Cool. Serve with whipped cream and a cherry on top!

Christmas Tablecloth: Cover the table with a red covering. (This can be cloth or plastic. Or you could use a bed sheet.) Make Christmas designs from construction paper: candy canes, snowflakes, wreaths, etc. Place on the tablecloth; then cover with a clear vinyl tablecloth.

1 Ask Dad or Mom how you can help them around the house today.
Week 1 Fishermen Mark 1:17 "Come, follow me," Jesus said, "and I will make you fishers of men."
2 Tell your Sunday school teacher or pastor "thank you" for teaching you about the Bible. 3 Read Matthew 4:18-20. 4 Memorize Mark 1:17. 5Family Forum: What do you think Jesus meant when he said, "I will make you fishers of men?" 6 You, too, can be a "fisher" of people. Tell someone about the how the Lord Jesus Christ died and came alive again. 7Family Fun: How many different fish you can name? Don't forget all the tropical fish you see at pet stores! Thank the Lord for making so many varieties. 8 Do you live near an area where people go ice fishing? Ask Dad or Mom to drive you to a lake so you can watch the people fishing.
Week 2 Tax Collectors Mark 2:14b "Follow me," Jesus told him, and Levi got up and followed him.
9Family Forum: Discuss what it means to "follow" someone. 10 "Follow" what someone else does today. Follow Mom while she's bakes cookies, Dad while he changes a bike tire, or your sister as she does a cartwheel. 11 Read Mark 2:13-17. 12 Can you think of another tax collector who lived in Bible times (Zacchaeus)? What happened to that man? 13Family Forum: Do you think it was difficult for Levi to follow Jesus and become one of his disciples? Why or why not? 14 Memorize Mark 2:14b. 15 After Levi (Matthew) decided to follow Jesus, he invited his friends to his house to hear Jesus teach. Do something today to show others you're following Jesus.
Week 3 Missionaries Mark 16:15 He said to them, "Go into all the world and preach the good news to all creation."
16 Does your church have a missionary map that shows the missionaries your church supports? Look at the display while you're at church today. 17 Read Acts 16:1-15. 18 Memorize Mark 16:15. 19 Where does your dad or mom work? What do they do? If possible, visit them at their job. 20 Choose a missionary whom your church supports. On a world map, find the country where he or she serves. 21 Write a letter or send an e-mail to the missionary you've chosen. 22 Pray for the missionary you've chosen.
Week 4 Doctors Mark 2:17 On hearing this, Jesus said to them, "It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick.I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners."
23 Ask three adults what they do at their job. 24 Ask God to guide you in your future job. 25 When was the last time you were at the doctor's? How did the doctor make you feel better? 26 Read Colossians 4:14 and Luke 1:1-4. 27Family Fact: Luke was a doctor and an author. He wrote the book of Luke in the Bible because he wanted to write down what happened when Jesus came to earth. 28 Memorize Mark 2:17. Talk about what this verse means. 29Family Fun: It's National Puzzle Day! Do a puzzle with your family.
30 Smile at seven people at church today. 31 Can you recite all the verses you learned this month?
